Could you be a Run In England Group Leader?
Love your running? Could you be someone to inspire new beginners?
You may be just the person to lead a group! Enthusiastic, supportive of beginners, some running experience with a bit of free time and willing to do an accredited course.
You don't need speed to lead!
What our leaders have in common
Our leaders are as varied as our members - all ages, paces, sizes, shapes, abilities and experience. They all have common factors:
- A love of running - social running, fun running, improvement and perhaps competition (not compulsory).
- They enjoy meeting others and sharing their knowledge and experience.
- They’re patient and value the complete beginner as much as anyone.
- They delight in the success of others.
- They worry that they don’t know enough, aren’t fast enough or good enough, but their groups tell you they’re all wonderful!
- Some have run for a lifetime, others for a year or two and started as beginners.
How are our leaders supported?
- A leader’s biggest rewards are the group's progress and achievement. We support our leaders with training, paperwork, ongoing advice, visits and a share in any our successes.
- Our leaders are qualified and fully insured through the Leadership in Running Fitness course. Click here for course details.
How are our leaders rewarded?
- Our leaders may be paid by their employer for their time, energy and commitment.
- They may be enthusiastic volunteers.
- They may be paid by their group members (up to about £2 per person per session) and either keep the proceeds or donate them to charity.
The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) is an independent public register which recognises the qualifications and expertise of health enhancing exercise instructors in the UK. Whilst the LiRF course is not recognised/or endorsed it does contribute to ongoing learning and development. Exercise Professionals can therefore log this course under the category 'other' CPD with 6 points on their online record.
