10.Mar.10 Nottinghamshire's first 'Run in England' group
Nottinghamshire’s first Run In England group ‘Fitness Matterz OTC’ has made a great start. Twenty runners, of varying ages and abilities, have signed up so far for the group which meets at the Oak Tree Leisure Centre, Mansfield in North Notts. Many different personal goals have been identified within the group from weight loss programmes to running the Great North run this year.
Wayne Evans is the group leader:
"Leisure and fitness has been my professional life for 20 years. I have coached many activities with various ages groups, from children to older adults. Throughout my life I have played both team and individual sports, with running forming part of my own fitness program for the last few years. Running 2-3 times a week alongside other fitness activities including spinning, circuit training and box-fit, have helped me maintain and improve my fitness level, which is important to me in the industry I work in. Also, I find it helps to motivate others when you are prepared to “walk the walk” yourself.
Finding others motivation and their reasons why helps to inspire them to achieve those personal goals. It’s great to show that you can get fit, stay fit, and have fun all at the same time. This is what I hope to help the group to achieve."
"With my recent post of Network County Activator for Nottinghamshire I am pleased to be given the chance to promote awareness of RiE in Nottinghamshire and increase the number of active participants in the local community, both as group members and group leaders."
"With encouragement and practical advice, I aim to help others set up groups within their own local communities and workplaces. I plan to help the groups every step of the way in line with RiE’s visions and objects. This is a new and exciting challenge for me, which I am looking forward to."
So, if you are in the Nottinghamshire area with a passion for running and want to help others in your local communities get fit and achieve their personal goals, why not train to become a RiE Leader?
